Dynamic Calibration of GPS Effective Isotropic Radiated Power for GNSS-Reflectometry Earth Remote Sensing

چکیده

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Reflectometry uses reflected GNSS signals for Earth remote sensing applications. Absolute calibration of a Delay Doppler Map (DDM) requires an accurate estimate the effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) transmitter, e.g., Positioning (GPS). However, variable transmit by numerous Block II Follow-on (IIF) and Replenishment-Modernized (IIR-M) GPS space vehicles has been observed due to their flex mode. Nonuniformity in antenna gain patterns further complicates EIRP estimation. A dynamic approach is developed address variability. It measurements direct received signal specular direction then incorporates it into normalized bistatic radar cross section (NBRCS). Error analyses using Monte Carlo simulations root sum squares (RSS) show that resulting error NBRCS about 0.32 dB. Dynamic instantaneously detects corrects fluctuations transmitters significantly reduces errors azimuthal asymmetry. allows observations with most IIF (approximately 37% constellation) be included standard data products improves quality geophysical products.

GNSS remote sensing

Editorial Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) remote sensing comprises GNSS reflectometry (GNSS-R) and GNSS refractometry (also known as GNSS radio occultation or GNSS-RO). GNSS-R involves analyzing measurements of GNSS signals reflected from the Earth's surface, while GNSS-RO utilizes measurements of GNSS signals refracted by the atmosphere, when the slanted propagation path is close to ...

Gps , and Remote Sensing

The role of information and communication technology (ICT) in accelerating development is drawing increasing attention. ICT promises to help isolated and disenfranchised communities transform themselves into development participants who are better informed and integrated. However, this promise is tempered by concerns that the control and application of ICT could reinforce—or simply reconfigure—...

An overview of GNSS remote sensing

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals are always available, globally, and the signal structures are well known, except for those dedicated to military use. They also have some distinctive characteristics, including the use of L-band frequencies, which are particularly suited for remote sensing purposes. The idea of using GNSS signals for remote sensing the atmosphere, oceans or ...
